ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

R time is a program we have implemented for the first time here at VAE.  R time stands for Relationships to improve education.  It is structured program for elementary schools that develops positive relationships between children.  It does this by creating an environment that supports and enhances good manners, respect, attainment, and citizenship.

R time is implemented through weekly activities in the classroom.  Through random pairings, children will work with all of the children in the class getting to know them and learning to build relationships with others outside their comfort zone. 

R time is practiced campus wide and our activities are planned on Wednesdays after announcements from 8:10 to 8:30.

Along with R time we've established and posted school wide expectations.  We have seen tremendous results in our students behaviors with these expectations being postings as reminders.
