Part of our reading program is Saxon Phonics. This is a very successful format in teaching children the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. Each child will be able to sound out and read words by the end of the year, if not sooner. This is the order of the letters taught the first six weeks: l,o,g,h,t,p. Please help your child learn these letters and their sound. Also help him/her distinguish between capital and lowercase letters. Have your child practice writing the letters, both capital and lowercase.
