ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

My name is Gwen Denton.  I am a life-long Van Alstyne Panther. Our goal in Reading Reinforcement (RR) is to help struggling readers become competent readers and writers by the end of first grade.  Children qualify for RR through test results of the Observation Survey and TPRI with input from classroom teachers.  I am Reading Recovery trained and will continue to use many Reading Recovery strategies as I follow the student's individual strengths and needs.  I also work with other first  and second grade students in small literacy groups.  Membership can change quickly as skills are developed and demonstrated in the classroom.
